I've been accused of being lazy. And rightly so.
I have a sick backlog of posts that so far exist only as drafts, and gods know when they will see the light of internet. 
So, in order to lessen the load, I decided to join the throngs of beauty shopping addicts and start to at least throw a haul post here and there, from time to time.
Some of it you could see on IG already, but since not everyone is on IG, I got requests to share my recent haulings on the blog as well.

While in Taiwan I didn't do as much shopping as I had planned. Simply because everything was ridiculously expensive. More so than in Japan.

I wanted a ceramide set from For My Beloved, but it was sold out at every duty free place I looked. 

I couldn't find anything that interested me at the airport. I checked a few highly recommended things that turned out to be less than satisfying in real life.

Memebox Unboxing - Korean Beauty Starter Set #5 Intro to Tea Version 2

Ok, so this is a clear sign that the end of times is near. Very near. I am doing a Memebox (Korean beauty box) unboxing. I'm sure if you look outside the pigs are flying right now. I'm also pretty sure that hell has frozen over.

But if you look closely at the contents of this set, you can very easily guess why I bought this box.

No to teraz mamy oficjalny sygnal, ze dni ostatnie sa tutaj. Bo wrzucam na blogaska wpis o Memeboxie. Memebox to koreanskie pudelko kosmetyczne, cos jak Glossybox, czy jak im tam, w Europie.
Fanka Memeboxa nie jestem, ale to pudelko kupilam w niesamowitym pospiechu i z niesamowita ekscytacja.

Normalnie koniec swiata. Jestem pewna, ze za chwile uslyszymy kopyta czterech jezdzcow.

Ale zaraz wszystko bedzie jasne dlaczego:

I'm on my quest to try every single product this company has to offer.
This set had two A-True goodies, and that alone made it a fabulous deal.

Memebox was selling this set for US$40, but I had 2 points and a $3.00 coupon, so at US$35 with free shipping I couldn't say no.

It arrived today.

Sent as registered mail and declared as a gift, the value was also nicely lowered, so no customs problems for me.

The theme for this set was "tea" and all items were in one way or another had something to do with tea.

Because Memebox are asshats and decided to stop international shipping to countries other than the US, Korea, China (and possibly Japan) as of Valentine's Day, many of their faithful customers around the world are quite understandably quite unhappy right now.

There's also another reason why I feel that Memebox is particularly asshatty right now.
They remove the set and box descriptions very quickly from their website. So even though my box arrived today, I have no way of checking their product description page. Jerks. You have to be a bunch of total idiots to be pissing on your customers like that, if you ask me.

Oh well, anyway...

First, the reason why I bought it. The price of A-True skincare alone made this box worth buying.

Ahhhh, w koncu przyszedl czas na slynna, jedna jedyna, "oryginalna" poduszke Laneige - Laneige BB Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++...

I read so much about it, and the general consensus was?
It was good. And it was bad. And it was too dark, And it was too light. And it was too sheer. And it was too heavy. And it wasn't good for dry skin. And it wasn't good for oily skin. And it makes you break out. And it doesn't make you break out. And it's too fragranced. And it's not fragranced at all. And it's an essential item to have. And if you already have a cushion, you don't need it.

Reading what them innertubes had to say left me more confused than ever.
I decided it was time to take a look for myself.

I had this cushion in my cart at one of the online stores where I like to shop, and I was still debating whether I wanted to try No. 13 Light Beige, or No. 14 Pink Beige.
And just at that moment Jolse (a very friendly and helpful internet shop with a nice selection of items) asked me if I'd be interested in reviewing a couple of cushions. Of course, I said yes. And Laneige Pink Beige (No. 14) BB Cushion was in my hands in no time.

Tyle sie o niej naczytalam. I czegoz tam nie bylo!
Ze jest dobra, ze jest nedzna, ze jest za ciemna, i ze za jasna. Ze za slabe krycie, ze za mocne krycie. Ze nie nadaje sie do suchej cery. Ze nie nadaje sie dla tlustej cery. Ze wysypuje po niej. Ze nie wysypuje po niej. Ze za bardzo pachnie. Ze wcale nie pachnie. Ze trzeba ja miec. Ze mozna sobie ja odpuscic.

Po przeczytaniu wszystkiego w internetach mialam w glowie metlik i postanowilam sprawdzic na wlasnej skorze. A raczej twarzy.
Wrzucilam ta poduszke do koszyka w moim ulubionym sklepie internetowym, ale debatowalam, ktory odcien bylby lepszy - No. 13 Light Beige (jasny bez) czy No. 14 Pink Beige (rozowy bez).
I dokladnie w tej samej chwili Jolse (bardzo mily koreanski sklep internetowy z szerokim wyborem kosmetykow) zapytal sie mnie czy nie chcialabym zrecenzowac paru poduszek. Oczywiscie, ze chcialam. I tak to Laneige Pink Beige (No. 14) BB Cushion znalazla sie w moich rekach.

This is actually a limited version (packaging only) from Laneige's collaboration with pushButton. pushButton is a Korean fashion brand. And what we have here is its signature "doggie's playing leopard" pattern from the 2014 fall/ winter collection. I'd prefer cats, but, oh well... We can't have it all, now, can we?

To tutaj to limitowana wersja opakowania z Laneige'owej kolaboracji z pushButton. pushButton to koreanska marka modowa? W ten sposob mamy tutaj wzorek "psiaka udajacego leoparda" z kolekcji pushButton na jesien/ zime 2014. Osobiscie wolalabym koty. Slyszysz to, pushButton?

Cute, but honestly, who cares? (Now, give me cats on a package, and I'll buy it sight unseen, LOL!)

Anyway, where was I?
Ah, yes, No. 14 Pink Beige... Laneige proudly claims that this shade (number 14) is "only Laneige". Though I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere else as well.  Many brands offer number 13, but 14 is not as easily found.
Sadly the color names on Laneige cushions sold at Target stores in the US are different. Sorry, I have no idea how the standard shades of 13, 14, 21, 23, 31 and 33 compare to what's available in the States.

If Iope is the grandpa of all cushion foundations, then Laneige must be the grandma. Actually, it probably should be the other way round - Iope being the feminine name fits better to the role of grandma. Either way, you get it. These are the "original" cushions. The ones that started it all.

Slodkie, ale nie dla mnie. (Dajcie mi koty!!! Blagam was!!! LOL!)

No ale, gdzie ja bylam?
Ah, tak. No. 14 Pink Beige (rozowy bez).
Laneige dumnie twierdzi, ze ten odcien jest "only Laneige" (tylko Laneige). Ale jestem niemal pewna, ze gdzies indziej tez go widzialam. Wiele marek oferuje numer 13, ale 14 nie jest tak latwy do znalezienia.
Niestety dla czytelnikow w USA, oznaczenia kolorow na poduszkach Laneige dostepnych w sklepach sieci Target sa inne niz standardowe 13, 14, 21, 23, 31 i 33. I niestety nie wiem jak odcienie amerykanskie porownuja sie do koreanskich.

Jesli Iope to matka wszystkich poduszek, to Laneige mozna by nazwac ojcem. Te, ktore byly na "poczatku", kiedy jeszcze Amore Pacific rzadzil swiatem poduszek. Te, od ktorych to wszystko sie zaczelo.

I went with the classic Laneige BB Cushion, though there are other kinds available as well: Whitening, and Pore Control.
On the other side of the box we have the usual thingies written in Korean, along with the universal mark that the contents are good for 12 months from the moment you open the product.

Jak widac wybralam "klasyczna" Laneige BB Cushion, bo sa jeszcze wersje Whitening i Pore Control.
Na tylnej stronie pudelka mamy cos tam po koreansku (oznaczenie koloru i krotki opis produktu), wraz ze znaczkiem, ze zawartosc ma przydatnosc do zuzycia w ciagu 12 miesiecy od chwili otwarcia.

As you can see above, the compact is also decorated with doggies playing leopards. (Cats!!! give me cats!!!)

In the box, along with the compact (15 grams of product), we also get a refill pack (another 15 grams there) and an informational leaflet, mostly in Korean, and very partly in English.

Jak widac na jednym z powyzszych zdjec, kompakt jest rowniez udekorowany psio-leopadrowym wzorkiem. (Koty!!! gdzie moje koty!!!)

W pudelku, oprocz kompaktu (15 gramow produktu), jest tez wymienny wklad (kolejne 15 gramow) i ulotka, glownie po koreansku i bardzo czesciowo po angielsku.

You can see, this claims to be a heavy duty cushion - there's whitening and sunscreen and sweatproofing and soothing and makeup.

Czego tu nie ma? Jest i rozjasnianie i filtr i odpornosc na pot i ukojenie dla skory i podklad.

It also incorporates Laneige's patented Melacrusher™ Whitening Technology. I wrote about it earlier in my Laneige White Plus Renew review.

The sunblock claims of blocking UV rays even under strong sunlight I always take with a grain of salt. We simply don't use enough of this product to be adequately protected against UV rays. Please don't fall for this marketing gimmick and always use a stand-alone, proper sunblock. Your skin will thank you when you get old.

Mamy tu rowniez Laneige'owska opatentowana technologie Melacrusher™. Wspominalam juz o niej przy okazji opisywania Laneige White Plus Renew.
To, ze filtr ma blokowac promienie UV nawet w silnym sloncu to typowy chwyt marketingowy. Po prostu nie damy rady nalozyc na twarz wystarczajacej ilosci tego kosmetyku, aby osiagnac reklamowany poziom ochrony przed sloncem. Nie dajcie sie nabrac na te zapewnienia i zawsze uzywajcie osobnego filtru (filtra?) przeciwslonecznego. Wasza skora podziekuje wam na starosc.

On the other side of the compact we have a manufacturing date and not very important (I'm guessing) details in Korean.

Laneige is one of the brands (just like Hera, and Hanyul and Sulwhasoo and Iope and many others) from Amore Pacific. And just like other Amore Pacific cushions, it features its signature white and blue Rubycell applicator sponge.

Na spodzie kompaktu widnieje data produkcji i inne, malo wazne detale (tak zgaduje) po koreansku.
Laneige to jedna z marek (tak samo jak Hera i Hanyul i Sulwhasoo i Iope i wiele innych) ze stajni Amore Pacific. I tak jak wszystkie inne poduszki z tej firmy, i ta rowniez wyposazona jest w typowy dla Amore Pacific bialo-niebieski Rubycell aplikator.

The compact is white and simple and as always with cushion foundations, a total bitch to keep clean.

The inner lid keeps the contents fresh.

Wewnetrzna pokrywka utrzymuje zawartosc w stanie wzglednej swiezosci.

And we have the ubiquitous sticker telling us it's a new cushion that hasn't been opened yet.

Peel off the sticker, and voila!

Pod pokrywka mamy juz nam bardzo dobrze znana z innych poduszek naklejke ochronna - widac, ze nikt przed nami nie macal tego kosmetyku.

When reading about the recently launched Lancome Miracle Cushion (my review of the european version is here), I noticed voices that claimed that it was very similar to the cushions made by Laneige.
Really?
Let's check:

Kiedy czytalam recenzje niedawno wypuszczonej Lancome Miracle Cushion (moja opinia na temat wersji na Europe jest tutaj), spotkalam sie ze zdaniem, ze Lancome jest bardzo podobny i wizualnie i jakosciowo do poduszki Laneige wlasnie.
Naprawde?
Mozemy sprawdzic:

Now the stuff that you've all been waiting for - the color.

Piatka za wysilek, ale trojka za koncowy rezultat dla Lancome.

I purposely tried to spackle MAC to show you the differences in textures. Laneige, like almost all cushion foundations, is impossible to overapply.
It's indeed pink, and it's beige. As close to a perfect match for me as one can get.
I have read complaints that Laneige cushion colors run darker than other Korean cushions, and now I can confirm that. What Laneige labels as No. 14 can be compared to No 21 in Hera, Verite or Iope, or No 1 in Hanyul Luminant Cushion.

The good thing about Laneige is, that unlike other Korean brands, it also offers darker shades, such as 31 and 33. I appreciate that. It shows that the company understands that there is a world outside of Korea where women come in all different skin tones.

Celowo nawalilam tego MACa, zeby pokazac roznice w konsystencji i teksturze. Laneige, tak jak i inne poduszkowe podklady jest niemozliwy do przedobrzenia podczas nakladania.
Rzeczywiscie jest bezowy i ma rozowy podcien. Prawie idealny dla mnie.
Czytalam juz poprzednio, ze poduszki Laneige sa ciemniejsze niz innych firm o tych samych numerach odcieni. Teraz moge to potwierdzic. Co u Laneige jest numerem 14 odpowiada numerowi 21 u Hery, Verite lub Iope, lub numerowi 1 u Hanyul Luminant Cushion.

Co mi sie u Laneige bardzo podoba, to fakt, ze oferuja rowniez ciemniejsze odcienie, jak 31 i 33. Pokazuje to, ze firma zdaje sobie sprawe, ze swiat istnieje rowniez poza Korea, i ze kobiety na tym swiecie maja rozne kolory skory.

The texture is light without being too runny (my major complaint about Lancome Miracle Cushion). The coverage (according to me, who likes sheer and glowy) is medium and delicately dewy. It's not as light as Hanyul Luminant Cushion, and not as glowing as Hera UV Moist. To me it seems a bit heavier than Iope XP (or RX) N type. But if you're into foundations with industrial levels of coverage, this is not a product for you.

On my dry skin its lasting power was about 6 hours (no primer, no base, no finishing powder). After the first couple of hours the glow vanished but the evened out skin tone and coverage remained.

It did not accentuate fine lines or pores (at least in my case - I have plenty of small wrinkles and my pores are normal size, for the most part).

It did not break me out, it did not dry me out. But it wasn't particularly moisturizing either.
The smell that some people complained about did not bother me. 
To be honest, I'm so congested these days that I really didn't notice it at all. 

Konsystencja jest lekka, ale nie wodnista (to bylo moim glownym punktem narzekania na Lancome Miracle Cushion).
Krycie jest (wedlug mnie, lubiacej sheer and glow) srednie i delikatnie dewy. Nie tak lekkie jak przy Hanyul Luminant Cushion, i nie tak dewy i glowing jak Hera UV Moist. Dla mnie wydaje sie mocniejsze niz Iope XP (i RX) w wersji N (natural, nie porownywalam do wersji kryjacej, bo takowej nie posiadam).
Zwolenniczki matu i szpachli beda jednak rozczarowane.

Na mojej suchej skorze wytrzymal (bez bazy i bez pudru) okolo 6 godzin. Po kilku pierwszych godzinach efekt dewy zniknal, ale krycie zostalo.
Nie podkreslil mojej siatki delikatnych zmarszczek i nie wyolbrzymil porow (ale pory mam raczej malo problemowe, natomiast zmarszczki - wszedzie).
Nie wysypal mnie, nie wysuszyl. Ale nie byl tez i nawilzajacy.
Zapach, ktory denerwowal niektore dziewczyny, dla mnie byl malo wyczuwalny. Ale moj nos jest tak zatkany ostatnimi dniami, ze ja ogolnie malo co wyczuwam w tej chwili.

In conclusion:

It's a solid, good, reasonably priced BB cushion. Not much to complain about here. 
Definitely worth trying.
I'm very glad I agreed to review it.
Now I want to try the whitening or the pore control versions, as well.

After all, if Laneige BB Cushion is good enough for Lisa Eldridge, then who am to complain. Right? LOL!

Podsumowujac:

To solidna, dobra poduszka w rozsadnej cenie. Nie mam jej wiele do zarzucenia.
Warta sprobowania.
Bardzo sie ciesze, ze zgodzilam sie na jej zrecenzowanie.
Narobila mi ona ochoty na wersje whitening i pore control.

I ogolnie, jesli Laneige BB Cushion nadawala sie dla Lisy Eldridge, to powinna sie nadawac dla wiekszosci z nas.

Inspired by one of the comments about "matte skin"...

The longer I live in Asia, the clearer I see how my perception of skincare and makeup has changed over the years.
In my youth, I followed the usual western routine of "cover those f*ckers up" and "matte is good". As I had really bad skin, and I mean really, really bad skin, the end results were very frequently quite pathetic. That was a couple of decades ago (yes, I am a "mature" woman now) and luckily for me, and those poor folks who have the dubious pleasure of looking at me day in and day out, I eventually grew out of that thinking and moved on with the times. Living in Asia helped. A lot.

W mlodosci trzymalam sie typowej zachodniej zasady "byle przykryc te syfy" i "matowe jest dobre". So it saddens me, and amazes in equal measure, that young (and not so young, as well) women in the West still subscribe to such notions. Matte, heavy cover still reigns supreme and thick lines complete the look. The end result? 20-somethings making their skin look flat, tired, two-dimentional and simply put - old. And the most comical part of it? They think they look great. And they blog about it. And they're proud of it. Fortunately, as they get older, their perception changes. Sometimes.

A co jest tutaj najkomiczniejsze? To, ze mysla, ze wygladaja wspaniale. I bloguja o tym. I sa z tego dumne.
Na szczescie z wiekiem przegladaja na oczy. Czasami.

You can always quite easily spot fresh arrivals in Asia just by looking at their makeup. Kabuki faces, orange faces, heavy cover resembling layers of old, dried up cake batter on the skin. And no, I'm not including Eastern European hostesses heading to work in full war paint here (though this look, dubbed "whore paint" by some, seems to be a hostess favorite also after hours). 
And if you can make that distinction in Japan, where the native women don't shy away from makeup and love their covering foundations and face powders, you can only imagine how bad the Westerners look in comparison.

Chodzac po ulicach Tokio (choc widzialam je i w Taipei i w Seulu rowniez) mozna bez pudla rozpoznac dziewczyny swiezo przybyte z zachodu. Jak? Po ich makijazach. Maska jak z teatru kabuki, maska jak rodem z solarium, warstwy tynku i tapety, ktore mozna by szpachla zdrapywac. I nie, nie mowie tu o wschodnio-europejskich hostessach wymalowanych do pracy (choc z tego co zauwazylam, wiele z nich lubi takie malunki i po pracy).
I jesli z latwoscia mozna spostrzec takie jednostki w Japonii, gdzie przecietne tubylcze kobiety tez lubia krycie, podklady, pudry i solidne makijaze, to latwo sobie wyobrazic jak komicznie w porownaniu wygladaja tutaj kobiety umalowane w "zachodnim" stylu.

Considering these makeup style differences, it is with great interest that I read Korean cushion* (and Asian beauty products in general) reviews written by European women. I'm singling out Europeans, because it seems that in America they are slowly beginning to understand the differences in styles, textures, applications and intended results. Of course even there the preference for heavy matte cakey cover still rules, but more and more voices embrace the sheer glow made popular by Korean pop stars.

The story in Europe, as read on beauty blogs, sounds quite different. There the complains abound - it's too sheer, it's too dewy, it's too glowing, it's not matte, I need more cover, this stuff doesn't work on European skin, I'm so disappointed, it's all Korean hype and not much substance.

It only shows how different our expectations regarding current beauty trends, the level of coverage and mattefying power are. And it also shows how little research some people do before spending their money. Because if they can't be bothered to read about one product that is unfamiliar to them before buying it, I'm pretty sure they can't be bothered on a regular basis. Oh well, it's their money, not mine. 

Historia w Europie, czytajac blogi urodowe, jest nieco inna. W krainie tapety narzekan na poduszki koreanskie jest wiele. A bo za "sheer", za transparentne, za "dewy", za duzo blasku, a bo nie ma matu, a bo ja chce wiecej krycia, a bo to nie dla europejskich cer, a bo jestem zawiedziona, bo to tylko koreanski hajp i nic innego.

To tylko jeszcze bardziej podkresla roznice w trendach urodowych, oczekiwan odnosnie sily krycia danego produktu i jego wlasciwosciach matujacych. I to rowniez pokazuje jak wiele kobiet nie chce sie wysilic i poszukac dostepnych juz informacji o produktach przed wydaniem na nie pieniedzy. No coz, ich kasa, nie moja.

What is curious, though, that they tend to blame their lack of information, or sometimes their misinformation, on the product, not on themselves.
And hence we get such lovely reviews as "this cushion leaves a white cast due to the high SPF sunblock in it". The more probable and a lot simpler explanation of "damn, I picked the wrong color, stupid me" apparently never occurred to that writer.
Or "the coverage is too sheer" for a cushion that is meant to provide natural, sheer coverage.
I could go on, but it's just too depressing. I wonder if they also fault other cosmetics for the fact that they do exactly what they're intended to do. Hmmmm...

Najdziwniejsze jest jednak to, ze za swoj brak informacji, winia kosmetyk, a nie na siebie.
I tak to wlasnie mozemy czytac takie perelki (parafrazuje) "poduszka ta bieli, ale to przez jej wysoki filtr SPF". Bardziej logiczne wytlumaczenie, ze "o cholera, kupilam nie ten kolor" jakos nie przyszlo autorce do glowy.
Albo narzekanie, ze "krycie jest minimalne" o poduszce, ktorej zadaniem jest minimalne krycie i naturalny wyglad.
Moglabym tak dlugo, ale to jest zbyt depresyjne. Ciekawe czy te osoby winia inne kosmetyki za to, ze robia dokladnie to co producent mowi, ze maja robic? Hmmm...

The fact that this nonsense is coming from established beauty bloggebrities with thousands of followers only makes me appreciate those popular voices, who at least try to put some basic research into their posts. And it makes me pay that much more attention to less popular voices, who I may not agree with 100%, but who actually know what they are talking about. 

As cushion foundations become more and more popular in Europe, we are bound to find such "highly credible" opinions more frequently. And unfortunately, for as long as matte is the desired finish and wall plaster the most sought after level of coverage, we will hear such disappointed voices.

So where does that leave us and who should we listen to? 
Well, certainly not to me.
But if Lisa Eldridge jumped on the cushion bandwagon, they can't be all that bad...


Takie nonsensy wychodza spod klawiatur znanych blogerek, z tysiacami obserwatorow i fanek, ktore kazde ich slowo uwazaja za kosmetyczna ewangelie. Te nonsensy daja mi jednak pewna doze uznania dla blogerek typu AC, bo choc czesto jej koncowe wnioski sa raczej bledne, to przynajmniej stara sie ona uzasadnic swoj punkt widzenia materialami z innych zrodel.
Zacheca mnie to tez do wyszukiwania mniej popularnych glosow, z ktorymi moze nie zawsze sie zgadzam, ale ktore sa znawcami danego tematu.

Podklady w poduszkach beda pojawiac sie w Europie coraz czesciej, wiec coraz czesciej bedziemy mogli posluchac gorzkich zali tych, ktorym nie chcialo sie sprawdzic koloru czy poziomu krycia PRZED kupnem koreanskiego produktu. I tak dlugo, jak tapeta i matowe wykonczenie beda preferowanymi stylami makijazu w Europie, tak dlugo beda pojawiac sie narzekania rozczarowanych blogerek.

Wiec czyjej opinii warto sluchac? Na pewno nie mojej.
Ale skoro Lisa Eldridge zachwyca sie koreanskimi poduszkami, to chyba nie sa one az tak zle...

Today let's talk about ingredients.
In cosmetics. In makeup and skincare products.

What inspired this post was a comment exchange I had earlier this week with a certain beauty blogger. She happened to like the Lancome Miracle Cushion (my review - here), and that's fine. I'm sure many people love it and for them it's the best thing since pushup bras.

What was surprising was her explanation why. She had tried Korean cushions before - from Etude House and Laneige. And claimed that both of them broke her out. I'm not surprised by that. Every skin is different and we all have different breakout triggers.
But the blogger claimed that Korean cushions (as well as BB creams and foundations) are loaded with parabens, and she specifically singled out parabens as the reason for her breakouts.
According to her, the Lancome cushion is compatible to her skin, because what's inside it is better than what's inside Korean cushions.
When I pointed out how ill-informed and on how many levels that comment was, she deleted my replies. Oh well...

But that just goes to prove yet again that ingredient listings are a dangerous thing, especially in the hands of people who can't read.
Because if you blame your skin troubles on parabens in certain products, it might be a good idea to first check if there are parabens in said products. If there aren't any, you will end up looking less than credible, no matter how many comments you delete.

Inspiracja do dzisiejszego wpisu byla wymiana komentarzy z pewna blogerka kosmetyczna (niepolska). Bardzo polubila sie z Lancome Miracle Cushion (moja recenzja tej poduszki - tutaj). I w porzadku. Wiele osob uwaza ta poduszke za cud, miod i orzeszki.

Co bylo dziwne w tym przypadku, to jej wyjasnienie dlaczego.
Otoz, probowala ona poprzednio koreanskich poduszek - Etude House i Laneige. I twierdzi, ze po obu z nich bardzo ja wysypalo. To samo w sobie nie jest dziwne. Kazda cera jest inna i reaguje inaczej.
Ale ta blogerka nie zatrzymala sie w tym miejscu i pedzila dalej.
Twierdzi ona, ze koreanskie poduszki (jak i BB kremy i podklady) sa naladowane parabenami i specjalnie podkreslila, ze to wlasnie parabeny ja wysypuja.
Wedlug niej, Lancome Miracle Cushion ma o wiele lepszy sklad niz koreanskie produkty.
Kiedy usilowalam jej wyjasnic, ze jest zle poinformowana na temat skladow koreanskich kosmetykow, usunela moje komentarze, zostawiajac tylko te, ktore "potwierdzaja" jej punkt widzenia.

To tylko dowodzi, ze sklady INCI to bardzo niebezpieczna rzecz, szczegolnie w rekach ludzi, ktorzy nie potrafia czytac.
Bo jesli winisz parabeny za swoje problemy skorne, to moze dobrze byloby zaczac od sprawdzenia czy dany produkt w ogole ma je w skladzie. Bo jesli nie, ale nadal upierasz sie przy swoim, to wyjdziesz na malo wiarygodna blogerke, bez wzgledu na to ile komentarzy skasujesz.

Like most of us, I use a lot of skincare products. I slather chemical compounds on my face, and other body parts, several times a day. All in the name of health and beauty.

Whether a cosmetic is natural, organic, or straight from the lab, does not matter to me.
What matters to me is whether its price tag reflects the contents.
Sadly, more often than not, this is not the case. We end up paying for pretty packaging and a luxury-evoking legacy name (yes, Global Shiseido, I'm looking at you!)
I don't mind bare bones ingredients, as long as the price of the product is also bare bones. By the same token, I'm willing to pay, even pay a lot, for ingredients and formulas that will never be found in cheap drugstore cosmetics. Whether those ingredients and formulas are proven to work, that's a whole different story. But hey, it doesn't hurt to try, right? Right.

Jak wiekszosc z nas, uzywam wielu kosmetykow. Klade na twarz i na cialo chemiczne czasteczki kilka razy dziennie. Wszystko dla zdrowia i urody.

Czy kosmetyk jest naturalny, organiczny, czy laboratoryjny, nie ma dla mnie najmniejszego znaczenia.
Co ma znaczenie to fakt, czy cena kosmetyku odzwierciedla jego sklad.
Niestety, bardzo czesto, nie. Placimy za piekne opakowania i mit markowej nazwy przywolujacej na mysl luksus (tak, globalne Shiseido, do ciebie pije).
Nie mam nic przeciwko ubogim skladom w kosmetykach, o ile ich cena tez jest dla ubogich.
I tak samo, jestem w stanie zaplacic duzo za skladniki i formuly, ktorych nie znajde w osiedlowej drogerii. Czy te skladniki i formuly dzialaja, to juz zupelnie inna bajka i temat na inny wpis. Ale przeciez nie szkodzi sprobowac, nieprawdaz?

Personally, I don't believe that the fountain of youth and smooth skin will come to us purely from nature. If it existed in nature, we'd have it by now, I'm pretty sure. Nature can offer us a lot of help, but the key to stopping cell death will be developed in a cutting edge research lab using bioengineering and genetic science.
What it means to me is that I am equally willing to try cosmetics full of natural plant extracts, as well as exclusively lab born and bred chemical wonders.
I don't discriminate. Or maybe I discriminate equally. What an ox and moron.
I believe in better living through chemistry. And the more varied products I try, the better I know my skin.

Usually I try to stay away from deep and pseudo-scienfitic ingredient analyses, because simply, I'm not a scientist. But I know what cosDNA is for and, usually, before I start spewing nonsense, I try to check what the system has to say. It's there for a reason, you know. Because maybe it's not the parabens that are breaking you out (especially if there aren't any in a product you are talking about), but other acne triggers and skin irritants.


Osobiscie nie wierze, ze zrodlo wiecznej mlodosci i gladkiej skory trafi do nas z natury. Gdyby istnialo w naturze, juz bysmy byli na jego tropie. Natura ma wiele co zaoferowania i wspomaga nasze wysilki ku wiecznie gladkiej cerze, ale klucz do zatrzymania zmian starzenia na poziomie komorkowym zostanie odkryty w laboratorium naukowym, przy uzyciu najnowszych osiagniec w dziedzinie biotechnologii i inzynierii genetycznej.

Dla mnie znaczy to tyle, ze jestem tak samo sklonna uzywac kosmetykow pelnych naturalnych skladnikow i ekstraktow, jak i tych "pelnych chemii".
Nie dyskryminuje. A raczej - dyskryminuje wszystko na rownym poziomie.
Moje motto to "lepsze zycie dzieki chemii". I im wiecej roznych kosmetykow probuje, tym lepiej poznaje swoja cere.

Zazwyczaj staram sie trzymac z daleka od pseudo-naukowych analiz skladnikowych, bo po prostu nie jestem naukowcem w tej dziedzinie. Ale wiem czym jest cosDNA i zazwyczaj, zanim zaczne bredzic od rzeczy, sprawdzam co ten system ma do powiedzenia o skladzie danego kosmetyku. Bo to moze nie parabeny cie wysypuja (szczegolnie jesli produkt o ktorym mowisz ich nie ma!), a inne substancje oznaczone jako potencjalne przyczyny problemow skornych.

For what it's worth, according to cosDNA Etude House Any Cushion is relatively free off acne triggers and major irritants.
Laneige cushion has a couple of 4-point acne triggers (Ethylhexyl Palmitate, and Isopropyl Palmitate).

Wedlug cosDNA poduszka Etude House nie zawiera zadnych silnych wysypywaczy.
Poduszka Laneige ma dwa skladniki oznaczone jako silne (4 punkty) potencjalne przyczyny wypryskow - Ethylhexyl Palmitate, and Isopropyl Palmitate.

But surprise, surprise, so does Lancome Miracle Cushion - Isopropyl Myristate (which according to cosDNA is a major acne trigger) and Ethylhexyl Palmitate.

And as for parabens... well...
Apart from first checking if a given product has any, it might be a good idea to actually find out what parabens are what they do. But that would take some effort. And who has time for that?
Nonsensical pseudo-science is so much easier, right?

Even if you are allergic to science, Of Faces And Fingers (Beauty with an analytical perspective) has a very good write-up on parabens, in English, using simple words that even the dumbest blond (like me!) should be able to grasp. Enjoy!

Oprocz sprawdzenia skladu, czy dany kosmetyk rzeczywiscie je zawiera, dobrze byloby dowiedziec sie czym te parabeny sa i jakie maja zadanie. Ale to wymagaloby wysilku. A kto ma czas i ochote na wysilek?
Pseudo-naukowe bzdury sa przeciez duzo latwiejsze.

Nawet jesli masz alergiczna reakcje na nauki scisle, ten blog - Of Faces And Fingers (Beauty with an analytical perspective) ma bardzo dobry, rzetelny i szczegolowy wpis na ten temat. Nawet najglupsza blondynka (taka jak ja!) powinna zrozumiec o co chodzi. Wpis jest po angielsku, niestety.
